AFSA On the Hill

Each year, Congress makes decisions that directly affect enlisted Airmen and their families, including healthcare, pay, job security, education, and quality-of-life benefits. For many years, the enlisted voice was largely absent from these discussions—until 1961, when the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) was formed.

Today, AFSA is an international organization of nearly 75,000 members, recognized on Capitol Hill and within the Pentagon as a leading advocate for enlisted personnel. AFSA’s mission is to promote quality of life and economic fairness for Air Force enlisted members and their families.

AFSA Legislative Awareness Week

AFSA’s designated Legislative Awareness Week was held from 12–18 October. During this period, AFSA Chapters focused on informing their bases, communities, members, and prospective members about AFSA’s legislative priorities, ongoing efforts, and long-standing accomplishments.

Chapters supported this effort through a variety of legislative-focused activities, including informational events, displays, and outreach initiatives. Many hosted breakfasts, luncheons, or dinners to highlight the significant impact AFSA’s legislative program has on the lives of those currently serving, those who have served, and their families and survivors.

AFSA Legislative Platform

The AFSA Legislative Platform serves as a blueprint for congressional testimony, lobbying efforts, and sustained engagement with lawmakers, while remaining flexible enough to address day-to-day legislative developments as they arise. It outlines AFSA’s priorities and positions on key quality-of-life, pay, benefits, and readiness issues affecting enlisted Airmen and their families. Access the AFSA Legislative Platform to learn more about the initiatives and advocacy efforts guiding AFSA’s work during the current congressional cycle.
